Don’t settle for just feeling good – thriving now



I’ve spent years answering the greeting, “How are you?” With “good” – when I wasn’t. I was dying.

As I recovered, I came out of grief where I was really “good.” But fine is not good, and good is not good. Just as light and sound have scales, so does health.

10+ = Thriving!
9 = Awesome
8 = outstanding
7 = Great
6 = Good
5 = Fine
4 = OK
3 = Survival
2 = stingy
1 = death
0 = dead

There is a vibration of optimal health and vitality that is palpable. We can feel the low vibration of those who are sick and we are refreshed by the energy of those who spread good cheer.

Are our vibrations innate? to an extent We all know children born with sunny dispositions. On the other hand, some babies cry a lot and are difficult to comfort. Still, the vibration changes. Sometimes the sunny child becomes a dark, brooding teenager. And sometimes the restless, agitated, unhappy and lonely teenager becomes a calm and confident adult. Such changes often seem to occur by chance and circumstance. The question is: Can we change our vibration consciously, as an act of intention?

Of course! If we’re feeling fat and lethargic, we know that physical exercise will improve our vitality, even if we don’t lose a pound. We know that aerobic exercise builds physical stamina. Weight training builds physical strength. Yoga increases physical flexibility and balance. Massage therapy provides relaxation, increased flow and body awareness and helps the body to change posture. This approach is common knowledge to millions.

Where I see the biggest gap in awareness emotional Fitness We expect family, friends and colleagues to be mentally stable, while at the same time we are overwhelmed by stress and responsibility. If people “cope” it is seen as “should be expected of anyone under the circumstances”. No, it’s not. Today we have advanced technology as well as ancient practices that can transform even acute emotional distress into optimal health.

First let’s talk about the developing technology. Most people are not clinically mentally ill. But almost everyone struggles with sadness, difficult relationships, illness, self-doubt, and depression. Many of us have experienced trauma at some point in our lives—the tragic death of a loved one, an accident that left permanent scars, an intense memory that terrified us, and physical and sexual abuse that made it impossible to feel completely safe.

How do we redefine the perspective of energy?member (literally, how we recreate a memory in our body in the present moment) as a function of the body’s energy system. If we feel fearful and insecure in the present because of something that happened in the past, energy therapy sees this as a “disruption of the energy system.” Simple as that. To remove blockages, we address the energy system through meridians and acupoints associated with truth and affirmation. Obstacles are removed. The memory remains but it is re-membered in a way that no longer causes us pain and suffering. And the effects are usually permanent.

We see through energy therapy that old emotional baggage can often be separated without hundreds of hours of professional therapy and medication. Such medical intervention has a place, for the seriously mentally ill. But what solutions are offered to otherwise high-functioning individuals who have an old wound or two, fears or behaviors that continue to cause pain? A lifetime on Prozac?

Solutions I use myself and teach my coaching clients EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique)And I am committed to making it common for people to feel emotionally free, balanced and empowered using EFT as support. I love EFT because it is useful for both individuals and professional practitioners. Yet there are dozens of other techniques and derivatives that can be applied to emotional problems. I am convinced that in the next 20 years, energy work will emerge as a major way that we effectively deal with emotional pain. This is because the energy system provides a direct mechanism for us to access our God-given power of self-healing.

Which leads me to the ancient practice of emotional healing…spiritual connection to a higher source through meditation, prayer and praise. In meditation we quiet down and listen within to experience divine peace and guidance. In prayer we offer our thoughts and concerns to God to help us heal our heartache. We praise and worship to express our gratitude for all the blessings in our lives… and for life itself.

Each of us can experience the healing power of this simple spiritual practice. They don’t even take that much time. Support is available from any fellow traveler on the spiritual path. They are, in my life, the foundation of a rich rich experience.

On my path to optimal health that began thirteen years ago, I took vitamins, exercised, changed my diet, did a lot of physical work and gave, did a lot of taping, and changed a lot of beliefs. I have been supported by family, friends and coaches. All of these continue to be important aspects of my personal health. Yet when I was at my sickest, my teacher shared a goal for me. “I want you to learn how to hear God’s voice within you. Everything else will take care of itself.”

All the physical work, meditation, spiritual counseling, and diet changes we did together were to help me get to the place where I could distinguish my own intuitive inner guidance. It’s the guidance that leads me to solutions like EFT, which guides my time with clients and guides my life as a whole (at least when I do it…). The time I spend each day in meditation, prayer, and praise nourishes me the most.
