45 wins, 59 nominations. That is the number of medical drama series Pit It has already collected since its debut in 2025 and is only a reflection of the success of the first season. The second season, which ended this past April, is just as great, if not stronger.
Noah Wyle as Dr. Michael ‘Robbie’ Robinavich, Pit For healthcare workers this emergency room turns every hour of a 12-hour day shift into an episode. The emergency room in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania is head-turning to say the least and inspires a lot of admiration for the endurance and expert care they put up with even in the most stressful situations.
In the second season, the selected day of observation of their work will be the Fourth of July. And so, no, it’s not by accident that you’re reading this post before the 4th of July. As we can only imagine, accidents and untoward health events are on the rise during this midsummer and fireworks-infused holiday, and that means emergency room visits, of which there are plenty throughout this 12-episode season.
In addition to tending to the physical needs of their patients, social influences and current events are also written into some of the stories. The author’s deliberate care with each subject brings us back to the humanity of what it means to rule and how each individual and their family is affected, how it affects the choices they make and the risks they take or don’t take. With each season, I’m impressed with how skillfully these themes are portrayed.
