~I invite you to listen to the audio version shared above, where a guided meditation is provided that follows what is shared below the text.
When I first started gardening, most of what I learned came from mistakes I made – overwatering is possible! – or things I didn’t do that were necessary for the plant to thrive. As I read books, watched gardening programs hosted by experienced gardeners, and asked questions of gardening experts at public gardens and nurseries, I saw more success than I had imagined and hoped for.
The same thing happens when we make time to meditate, which strengthens our ability to be mindful. And all mindful means are paying attention and seeing clearly. When we begin to see clearly, we begin to notice what nourishes us or what shrinks or diminishes our ability to live well. By being mindful, we become aware of what to water in our life if we want it to grow and what to stop watering so that it doesn’t suffocate potential awesomeness.
So with every opportunity to meditate, remind yourself that you are strengthening your ability to know yourself and your environment to understand more clearly what nourishes you, and over time, you will become clear about what you are currently watering that is nourishing, and you will be able to pinpoint exactly where you are watering that is just wasting water. Choose to be a sustainable gardener, to advance our harmony, and over time, your garden, your entire life, will be rich, green and deeply nourished, enabling you to flourish into your full and true self.
