Pain Relief – What Does Your Pain Say? – Day 5 – Rich now

You did it! of day 5 Tap for Pain Relief Mini-Course!

Today we’ll focus on listening to your body the way people with resilient health and vitality do…especially when they’re in pain.

If you missed any of the previous days… here is Day 1, Day 2, Day 3And Day 4.

Day 5: What does your pain want to say?

We’re focusing on pain, but this technique can be used for anything. It can be used for your small red spots on your skin, extra weight around your stomach, an uncomfortable stomach – anything your body can use to signal you.

It’s easiest to start by focusing on a small pain or discomfort. If you’ve been struggling with back pain for two decades at 8, 9 or 10, this isn’t the best place to start.

  • Find a safe, quiet place.
  • Focus on an area of your body that is uncomfortable… where there is a strain or tension.
  • close your eyes
  • Take slow, deep breaths.
  • Allow your awareness to flow from the outside world into your own body.
  • go inside Follow your breath into your body.
  • Take another deep breath.

If you can easily touch the area of discomfort, place your fingertips or the flat of your hand (whichever feels right to you) on that area. If you can’t reach the spot, just focus your attention on it.

Now, as if you were asking a friend, ask that part of your body: “What do you want to tell me?”

Be still for a moment and allow any emotions or thoughts to flow. Your body may whisper at first if it isn’t used to hearing it.

Your body can respond in different ways. You may feel some resistance.

You can listen to the inner critic first. The inner critic will sometimes come hard and fast (and not sound very helpful).

Acknowledge that and go deeper. Allow yourself to hear more supportive voices.

If you had a voice out there, who cared about you and wanted to give you some information, what would it say?

You may also imagine that you are listening to a frightened child who has scared them. Try not to be demanding or impatient… just be soft and empathetic:

“What do you want to tell me?”

This part of you may give you an image or give you a feeling that reminds you of something. Some people are more visual and can see rather than hear.

Even if you get silence, it’s a good start! you learn to listen… to bring your attention to a peaceful place beyond the noise and self-criticism … and to tune into your deeper intelligence.

Whether or not you get the answer now, ask that part of your body: “What do you need?” See if you get the answer.

See if it says to you: “I need some rest,” or, “I need some love.” It might ask something strange. You never know. Every time you get an answer, great!

Thank your body for contacting you.

If you can, give your body what it wants or tap into the emotions around whatever is coming up. If you don’t get clarity, try to be gentle with yourself. Your body may be shocked that you are actually listening to it!

The good news is, with a little practice, this skill will develop. You may also have some resistance to tuning in, especially if you’re afraid of what your body might say or want.

This technique may take a while to learn, but it’s worth the time and focus.

  • Your own personal inner guidance is the best way to know what is best for you… what your body needs right now (even at 3am).

you are too Change the relationship between you and your body. When we are in pain, we can feel the body working against us (perhaps even our enemy). By treating the body as if it were a friend-in-need, the entire energy dynamic changes from conflict to partnership, from conflict to healing.

Let’s do something about it touch This new approach helps us clear learning blocks.

Hand Direction (Karate Chop): Even though I’m really resistant to listening to my body, and I’m not really sure I want to listen to what it has to say, I’m still a good person and maybe it’s worth a try.

Even though I don’t get it right now, I haven’t heard a thing, and it really frustrates me (or I heard it, and I didn’t believe it, or I heard it, and it’s confusing – feel free to change the words to whatever suits you), I’m still a good person, and I’m learning to love and accept and listen to my body.

Although I’m really resistant to hearing this, I’m open to having a better relationship with my body.

Above the head: I’m not sure I want to do it!
Eyebrows: What if my body is telling me things I don’t want to hear?
Eye direction: What if it says something I can’t do?
Under the eyes: i am afraid
Under the nose: I guess I could just hear a little.
Chin: Nothing can be worse than what is going on now.
Collarbone: I haven’t listened to my body in a while.
Underarm: I can always stop listening…

Above the head: And I don’t have to do what my body says.
Eyebrows: It may be good to know what will bring relief.
Eye direction: I can’t be more lost than I am now.
Under the eyes: Maybe it will ask me something nice.
Under the nose: Maybe it will give me better insight.
Chin: What if my relationship with my body improves?
Collarbone: I want to feel better
Underarm: I’m open to trying it again.

Take a deep breath And notice how you feel. Does your body feel more alert? More open? More curious?

This inner guidance can be used for much more than pain relief. And learning this can open many doors.
