Kindness is not rent

The flat you were supposed to stay in.

Generosity easily becomes the rent you pay to stay loved. Here’s a little deal. There is a little silence. One “doesn’t matter” when it does. One, “I understand” when you don’t, you don’t have the energy to map the basic considerations again.

And no one tells you that you moved into a flat that was supposed to be yours, not rented out to other people’s moods.

The worst of it is that a kind woman is often truly kind. It’s not all performance, not all fear. You have that soft part in you that wants to help. You see, when someone is struggling. You hear the tone skip others.

And that’s exactly why you have to be careful.

What is most beautiful about you can easily become a way for others to enter without knocking.

This part belongs to my little book,

For those days you don’t explain yourself

A little book for those days when you’re tired of explaining yourself.
