At that moment at the end of the day, the warmth of a spring day invites us to sit outside, perhaps grab a book, and settle in with a hot cuppa when we let ourselves be. I enjoy these moments. I never know when they will happen because it depends on things Mother Nature has to deal with, but whenever I’m home and the temperature is comfortable, I hold them with regularity. The day is not a specially marked occasion on the calendar, the time is not set in stone, but ease finds me in letting go.
A similar thing happens when we stop looking for answers in our lives – which road to take, which one to say yes to, how it will work out. By constantly searching, our mind cannot be present because it is thinking. That doesn’t mean we shouldn’t think, but we have to be present to see. Or, on the other hand, maybe we already know how we want our lives to play out, and so we set expectations. It means we are waiting for a specific, very specific outcome and it means we are not fully engaged with life. Similar to what was shared in our meditation session #18, we don’t keep our minds open to all possibilities if we must have a certain specific outcome.
Life feels peaceful when we let go. Let go of both thinking and waiting, anticipating and precisely planning. We find peace in the present moment. That’s where we relax. This is how we find peace. And that’s often when new ideas, discoveries and realizations cross our path.
