Robert Duvall is one of the most quietly commanding actors in American film history. With a career spanning more than six decades, he has moved seamlessly between crime epics, intimate dramas, sweeping westerns and character-driven indies.
Duvall died on February 16, 2026 at the age of 95. He was one of my favorite actors.
I’m not a film critic, but I love a good film. What I like usually doesn’t win awards.
For example, Days of Thunder, which ranked #8 onMy favorite sports movie of all time List I saw this tonight when I found out about Duvall’s passing. Playing Harry Hogg, a seasoned crew chief who mentors Cole Trickle (Tom Cruise), is my favorite of all the roles he plays.

Apostle (1997)

The Judge (2014)
